Licenses are generally issued by the state and permit specific business activities within the state (direct shipping, business sales and use tax, right to conduct business, etc.). Licenses are grouped by jurisdiction, which is typically a US State, but can also be a county or municipal area within a State.
License Types are categories of licenses; each state often uses different nomenclature for similar license types. To minimize confusion, license types have been given general common names for easy identification to their purpose.
The two most important and common types of licenses in WineDirect Compliance are the Direct Shipper License and Business Tax Registration.
